Onlay

Dental inlays and onlays fit the tooth to replace fillings or where a tooth has fractured to save more of the tooth structure than a crown.

Onlay is a type of indirect permanent restoration used to replace fillings or fractured portion of the tooth, to save more of the tooth structure than a crown.  When a tooth has lost a large amount of tooth structure either due to a cavity or fracture but is not large enough to require a crown, a porcelain onlay is the most durable, and the best way to restore that tooth.  This procedure requires 2 officevisits : first visit for the tooth to be prepared and impression is taken.  The second visit is to deliver and permanently cement the onlay.
